Permafrost Origin
I was a simple person. I had a job, a family friends, and even a fiancé. I had all of that. Until the snow found me. Showed me where I belonged, who truly was and alway will be. It started on another simple day.
My fleshy brother and I were taking a trip to the Colorado mountains. We thought it would be like any trip we've had up there. Fun, freezing, and plenty of teasing coming from the both of us. This trip changed me though. We decided that we wanted to snowboard on the last day. We went up the mountain with the rest of the snowboarders.
Len kept asking me "Are scared little brother?"
"No. Only thing I'm scared of is you hitting a rock. You're a terrible snowboarder."
He'd then give me a brotherly shove. As we made it to our special starting spot we prepared ourselves for the ride down. Off we went down the mountain. Everything was fun and games. That is until my true brethren came for me. It was avalanche and it was coming fast.
Len and I tried desperately to get out of the way. Fortunately it was I who was covered beneath the cold blanket I call family. What was hours felt like days. I heard voices talking to me. Saying things I did not know about myself. When the rescuers found me I thought everything was over.
It was the days after that changed me the most. The voices continued and my body began to change. At first it was just small strands of blue in my hair and then all over. My heart rate was slowing everyday. The voices told me I was alright. I began to feel cold inside and out.
My eyes went from green to blue and I kept myself away from others to talk to the voices. They told me everything that was going on. Why all of this was happening, how it was happening, and why. I lost concern for everyone around me. Eventually my heart froze along with 90% of my body. Broke up with my fiancé, my family believes I'm dead, and no one understands me but the snow.
One day a stranger came to me. He said he'd give me what me and my family wanted. He promised a world of snow and ice. Told me that people would love it. I'd be there king. I could teach them the ways of the ice. Only word that came out of my mouth was
"Deal."
